Academic Requirements to Study in Australia

The eligibility criteria and academic requirements for students to study in some of the best universities of Australia may vary from one university or course to the other.

You must check the website of the university of your choice for all the requirements. However, we are listing some general guidelines to study in Australia:

  • Degree: The foremost requirement for Australia’s international students is an overseas equivalent of the Australian Senior Secondary Certificate of Education (Year 12). Few courses may also require certain subjects as a prerequisite.

  • Marks: Whether you can take admission in Diploma or Degree depends on the marks scored in class 12th. If you scored a minimum of sixty percent marks in class 12th, you are eligible for any Diploma course offered by the best universities in Australia. If your marks are sixty-five percent or higher, you can opt for any degree course of your choice.

  • Academic Details: Students are required to submit an official transcript from the school they have attended with the complete details of subjects studied and grades acquired. You need to attach attested copies of the mark sheet of class 10th and 12th.

  • English Proficiency Requirements: The education providers require proof of your capacity to understand the course content taught in English. Indian and other non-native English speaking students need to clear IELTS Academic or any other language proficiency test with decent band scores to secure the chances of admission to a university in Sydney or anywhere else in Australia.

  • Statement of Purpose (SoP): You need to write this personal essay stating all the necessary details of your interests, goals, academics, miscellaneous activities, and the reason behind choosing the specific college and stream.

  • Letter of Recommendation (LoR): This is yet another important document required by Australia’s international students. It is a recommendation letter provided by the teachers or professors of the student.

Please note, if your mark sheet and other documents are not in English, they need to be translated into English and certified by a professional.
